Recreational Classes
At Soul In Motion Dance Company, our recreational programming offers something for every stage, with classes for early childhood, youth, and adults in a supportive and engaging environment.
-
We offer 3 different classes for our tiniest dancers, designed to introduce movement in a fun and engaging way:
Mom & Baby Dance/Yoga (6 Weeks-Walking)
Parent & Tot Dance/Yoga (Walking-2 Years)
Toddler’s Intro to Dance (3-4 Years)
Each of these 45-minute classes focus on building coordination, confidence, and a love of movement, while creating a positive first dance experience in a nurturing environment.
-
Soul In Motion Dance Company’s Recreational Program offers a fun, supportive, and structured environment for dancers of all ages and levels to explore movement, build confidence, and develop strong foundational skills, all with a more flexible commitment than our competitive team.
Our recreational program includes classes in jazz, acro, lyrical, and ballet across Junior, Intermediate, and Advanced levels, allowing dancers to progress and grow within a well-rounded training framework.
Throughout the season, dancers will attend anywhere from 1 to 4 weekly classes, with class lengths ranging from 45 minutes for Junior levels to 60 minutes for Intermediate and Advanced levels. Each class works toward a year-end showcase, offering dancers a meaningful performance opportunity to celebrate their progress and experience the excitement of being on stage.
-
Remember all those hours you poured into your training as a competitive dancer? The early mornings, late nights, the discipline, the passion… the feeling of being completely in your element.
Maybe you went on to teach. Maybe you danced professionally. Or maybe life moved forward and dance slowly became something you used to do. Back to the Barre is your invitation to return.
This intermediate–advanced adult program is designed specifically for former competitive and retired professional dancers who are ready to reconnect with their training in a supportive, inspiring, and elevated environment. No pressure, no expectations, just the opportunity to move again, refine your technique, and rediscover the joy of dancing.
With 3, 1-hour classes offered per week, you can choose the level of commitment that fits your lifestyle, whether you’re easing back in or ready to fully immerse yourself again. This program includes classes in jazz, lyrical, and ballet (with a pointe option for those interested).
And for those who miss the stage…optional performance opportunities will give you the chance to step back under the lights and experience that feeling all over again.

Class Descriptions
-
Jazz is a dynamic and high-energy class that focuses on strength, technique, and performance quality. Dancers will develop skills such as turns, jumps, and extensions through across-the-floor and center progressions, while working on musicality and style. Classes include a structured warm-up, technical exercises, and choreography to help dancers grow in both precision and performance.
-
Acro combines dance technique with acrobatic and tumbling elements, focusing on strength, flexibility, balance, and control. Dancers will work on skills such as rolls, balances, walkovers, and progressions toward more advanced limbering and tumbling tricks in a safe and structured setting. Proper technique and conditioning are emphasized to support safe skill development and long-term progress.
-
Lyrical combines elements of ballet and jazz to create a style that emphasizes fluidity, musicality, and emotional expression. Dancers will focus on developing control, extensions, and seamless transitions while learning to connect movement to music and storytelling. This class encourages dancers to explore artistry while continuing to build strong technical foundations.
-
Ballet is the foundation of all dance styles and focuses on technique, alignment, strength, and discipline. Dancers will work through barre and center exercises to develop posture, control, flexibility, and coordination. Ballet training supports all other styles by building the technical skills necessary for growth and longevity in dance.
-
Contemporary is an expressive and versatile style that blends elements of ballet, jazz, and modern dance. This class focuses on movement quality, creativity, and storytelling, while building strength, control, and versatility. Dancers will explore floor work, improvisation, and dynamic movement patterns in a supportive and creative environment.
-
A gentle and nurturing class designed to support connection, movement, and wellbeing for both parent and baby. This class blends light dance, yoga-inspired movement, and breathwork to help parents ease back into movement while bonding with their baby in a calm and supportive environment. Classes are adaptable to all stages of early postpartum and energy levels. Perfect for building connection, community, and confidence in a relaxed and welcoming space.
-
A playful, interactive class designed for toddlers and their caregivers to explore movement together. Through music, guided activities, and imaginative play, children develop coordination, rhythm, and confidence while staying connected to their caregiver. This class encourages early social development and introduces structure in a fun and supportive way. A joyful first step into movement where connection and exploration come first.
-
Our first independent dance class for young dancers, designed to build confidence, coordination, and a love of movement. In this class, dancers will explore the foundations of ballet, jazz, and acro all within one class. Through creative movement, and structured activities, dancers begin to develop basic technique, listening skills, and independence in a positive environment. This is the perfect introduction to dance for young children who are ready to begin their independent dance journey.
